This. (The planning for the future part, not the roster is where I want it part.)Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:A lot of teams have their rosters where they want them and would rather plan for the future. I got several good offers for 19/20, but I don't really need NHL players right now.

Maybe you shouldn't trade for a pick 15 minutes before leaving the house and then getting drunk before making it.Penguin wrote:Fuck this draft!! Traded up to get Diaby and he goes 1 spot before me. Don't even like my pick.

Just a thought.
Without the ratings accuracy, general lack of size up front, and abundance of defensive defensemen being the main solid players in the draft, there aren't many other options, especially for a team looking to add big forwards like mine.Parker wrote:Wow, the league sure loves their defensive defensemen lately. Not sure what this is supposed to mean...VancouverCanucksGM wrote:Without the ratings accuracy
Skilled players get taken in the draft. That's today's NHL. That's why the CSB is littered with guys 5'8"-5'11". Bigger, power forward types seem to be signed as free agents after college or plucked out of who knows where.general lack of size up front, and abundance of defensive defensemen being the main solid players in the draft, there aren't many other options, especially for a team looking to add big forwards like mine.
You can edit their stat to being already good at hitting, regardless of the ceiling. Geertsen is 60 OFF already with terrible offensive ceilings.Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:Not sure what this is supposed to mean...VancouverCanucksGM wrote:Without the ratings accuracy

I'm limited with the way EHM is set up. I can't make a 6'1" guy with 90 HI. It's just not possible. I wish I could, but I can't.
Guys like MacKinnon, Drouin, Jones and Zadorov for examples. 2 of the 3 best players in the draft, as highly touted as they are in real life, only get 65 and 71 CON's? These guys improved every year, and then dominated the Memorial Cup. Jones is "supposed" to be a franchise type defenseman, but 2 of his defensive categories, might hit 82-ish. Lastly, Zadorov, he's probably one of the most hard hitting defensemen, along with being consistent, and he's not even a 90 in hitting. Just saying some things are off.Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:Not sure what this is supposed to mean...VancouverCanucksGM wrote:Without the ratings accuracy

I understand that as well, my logic though is, that's EHM's biggest flaw. Some of the NHL's hardest hitters, are Tootoo, Kaleta, Brown, Kronwall and Clutterbuck, yet they're hindered from being as effective in EHM because of the under 6'1 rule. Would ANYONE not have considered Darius Kasparaitis a "99" hitter?I'm limited with the way EHM is set up. I can't make a 6'1" guy with 90 HI. It's just not possible. I wish I could, but I can't.
Again, I understand that.Bub(NYR) wrote:A few thoughts...
...it's no use complaining about any of the vets in the file. They were rated what they are when the league started. It would be like me complaining about the guys on my farm who are solid NHLers in real life (John Carlson, Derek Stepan, etc). That's how they were rated and that's what we were given.
How do you figure they'll hit 88 without "100" ceilings? I'm asking to find out, not to be offensive....Seth Jones can still hit 88 in two of his DEF categories. And there are some who aren't convinced he's a real-life franchise D. I think Adam's ratings reflect that.
I understand this....each EHEC draft is an attempt at some kind of balance, in my view. Since there is no consensus Ovechkin/Crosby like player out there, most players in this draft have some (at least) minor flaw or drawback to their games. Gives you more to think about when drafting.
Right, but guys who have done what they've done, should have a bit higher CON's I believe, again, just my opinion....so a fully developed MacKinnon or Nichushkin, even with 71 and 69 CON respectively, won't be dominant players? Well, um, okay then.
Not at all, but for everyone they don't list that fails, there's one in some other class, that isn't able to reach their possible potential, but I understand the necessary balance....do we really need to start listing guys who were highly touted junior players who never became dominant NHLers?
That won't happen. I'm of the mind, that any player that ends up on the top end of the CSB, shouldn't have a CON lower than 60-ish. There aren't very many Alexandre Daigle's (players with great talent, but the lack of interest in using it). And yes, they should complain. If a 90 is the "highest" on a 99 max, then there are other players getting short changed as well....I understand your issues with the EHM system itself. Everyone knows them and everyone has gripes with them. But complaining about our drafts is like professional golfers who complain about the course: we're all picking from the same pool, and all playing against each other. If down the line Zadorov's 90 hitting is one of the best in the league, should someone complain that it should really be a 99?
Fair point. I guess I could start looking to do that for next season.Penguin wrote:You can edit their stat to being already good at hitting, regardless of the ceiling. Geertsen is 60 OFF already with terrible offensive ceilings.
I'm not asking for 10 guys with 85 CON's, just not high rated ones with high 50's low 60's.Bub(NYR) wrote:Jones hitting 88: overtraining. Look it up.![]()
There are participation points given out occasionally. You don't always get to fully choose what bonuses go where, but there is the occasional cookie handed out in this league.
I get your gripes, and I'm not smacking you down. I just disagree with them, within the context of this league. To me, it makes things more interesting than having, say, 10 A-level guys with 85 CONs at the top of the draft.
