Bits and Bobs
...Marian Hossa is the front runner for the Cy Young Trophy, sporting a strong 21-10 record so far.
...Vancouver is the final EHEC team to not yet have 100 goals this season.
...my own T. Kuehnhackl now has 2 hits for his EHEC career. Wonder who the lucky victims were?
...Adam Gilmour (NYR) and Tyler Toffoli (WPG) are tied with 31 points atop the rookie scoring race. Sebastien Collberg (NAS) leads with 17 goals. Zemgus Girgensons (PHI) is the angriest rookie, with 112 PIM and 16 fights.
...Jordan Weal (PRO) sits atop the AHL scoring race, with 29-50-79; Toronto's Alex Galchenyuk is second with 33-43-76.
...Mike Rupp (BNG) and Santtu Huhtula (HFD) are neck-and-neck with 242 and 241 PIMs, respectively.
...Albany somehow managed another road win, leaving Lake Erie as the only AHL team with just 1 win on the road this season. (Although it's hard to say which is worse: 1-20-0-1 or 2-25-1-0.) Plus, both teams have solid home records, with win percentages over 65%.
...Props to Finland for winning gold at the WJC in Sweden, drawing attention away from Team USA's "Citizenship-Gate" involving Joachim Nermark. I'm going to call it and give Finland center (and Rangers prospect) Saku Salminen the tournament MVP with 15 points in six games, including four in the final.
[ARCHIVED BITS]
...with this update we bid goodbye to Jaden Schwartz, who managed to register one hit and TWO blocked shots over the past three weeks.
...BUF's Brock Beukeboom is now +27 through 25 games. It is TOO a useful stat.
...NYR's Tom Kuehnhackl registered his FIRST HIT EVER earlier this season. [Currently he's only -81 in HG/HT. Yay.]
...Special kudos to SJ D Nikita Zaytsev for getting three goals out of four shots so far this season. [He's now down to 3 out of 5.]
...Abbotsford's Alex Khokhlachev and Providence's Jordan Weal are averaging over 2 points a game in the AHL. [Well, not anymore, but they're still close. And yes, we see you Alex Galchenyuk. What the hell are you still doing on the farm?]
...Props to Santtu Huhtala for 98 PIMs in 20 games for Hartford. [152 in 31gp now. Still behind Angry Mike Rupp, tho.]
...Mega-props to the Manchester Monarchs and their 22-1 record. [They now have 3 losses. MAJOR SLUMP.]
...Nice: the Albany Devils are 0-14 on the road. [Now 0-18-1-0. And 11-2 at home. ]
...I love EHM farm games because you get stats like Iowa having 51 goals for in 34 games.
...ROOKIE WATCH: Nashville's Seb Collberg leads rookie scorers with 20 points, and is the only one with over 10 goals.

Re: 2013-14 EHEC Player Extra Stats
Who the hell is Emanuel Astrom, and how are players already close to -20?
Props to all the SJ stars. Tornkvist is a flurry of fists. And Zaytsev must have the best PPG/SH% of any healthy scratch defenseman. Sorry buddy, eventually someone will start sucking or get injured.

Alexander Galchenyuk, not quite averaging 2 points a game but his shooting percentage(34) aint bad either.

Brown doesn't play the puck, he plays the man. Or maybe he just skates around in circles looking for women to beat on. I dunno.Bub(NYR) wrote:Most Games, No Shots Blocked (aka the "John Tortorella Memorial 'From Hell's Heart I Stab At Thee' Award")

Re: 2013-14 EHEC Player Extra Stats
Sadly, Tornkvist lost a fight the other week. Still, 8 straight wins for a 19 year old Swedish rookie is a hell of a start. Also, while Schwartz still hasn't thrown a hit or got a point in the last 5 or 6 games, he did block that one shot by accident since the stats were last compiled.

Re Bristedt: There are a number of players in the file like that, since the histories.ehm file hasn't been edited. He was probably written over a retiring or scrubby Ukrainian.

Bits and Bobs
...congrats to Jordan Weal (PRO) for winning the AHL scoring title with 140 points, including a crazy 93 assists
...Hartford's Santtu Huhtala manages to stay on the ice long enough to accumulate 396 penalty minutes
...Providence takes the regular season AHL title with 132 points, including only 1 home loss
...Binghamton out-Albany'd the Devils late in the season to bring up the rear with 43 points
...props to the Islanders for being the first EHEC team to surrender over 300 goals
...also props to the Canucks for tying the 2010-11 Minnesota Wild with the fewest goals scored, with 161
...the Newcastle Jesters of the EIHL have 8 of the top 10 league scorers, accounting for 6 goals a game between them; somehow, the leading goalie in this league only gives up 2 goals a game
...Gemel Smith led the OHL in scoring, Sam Reinhart the WHL, and Connor Brown the QMJHL; Beau Starrett leads all US collegiate scoring

Dalton is the new heavyweight champion. Cool.
Most recent file here.

Good deal for the future with Weal and Gemel Smith.

Now would be a good time to vote for Awards. Fresh in everyone's mind. @SharksGM since you're out of the playoffs early again, get on it!

There are plenty of times during the offseason when there's not much else to do. But if there's a popular uprising demanding awards voting now (and if it results in more ballots actually cast), I guess I can do it. Or you could.

Ummm....I've seen some of the names on his fight card, "heavyweight champion" doesn't come to mind.
Best percentage? Absolutely.
But he didn't fight too many heavyweight fighters.
Actually wish there were a few more fighters sprinkled around the league, but EHM is silly that way.

Kariya did it. Season was a success, after all.
Archibald lost two fights this season, both to Jared Boll (Who he also drew once.) Didn't fight Smith, curiously.

Boll had a good shot at the belt if he didn't get hurt. Vancouver, stop hating.Jungle Cats wrote:Kariya did it. Season was a success, after all.
