Notify us immediately if you have a player included/excluded in error.

If you don't specify a contract length for the player you wish to send to arbitration, the default length will be one year.

Boston should have hearings with Gagne and Skille because of rights trades.

You can't use your franchise tag.

I appealed to have the decision shortened in June. The league decided two full seasons without a tag was enough, and I received permission from the Commissioner to use my franchise tag on any expiring contract I wish.

EDM also traded a franchise tagged player, and to my knowledge, isn't facing any penalty. However, I could be wrong.

Well that would be a nice addition to the rulebook page. Had I known there was a penalty coming with the trade, I would've just kept Eberle and his last year left on the deal. So what now? I can't use the franchise tag on Vanek?

Given what the current rule is, you would be without a tag for one season. I'm not sure if the league plans to change the rule, or rule on a case by case basis. I told the league I would prefer EDM pay no penalty, and we change the rule to it can be switched without penalty to expiring contracts.

More action.

Well it's hidden in a 2012 trade post and I wasn't around back then but hey, should've figured there was a penalty for removing a franchise tag. I'll comply if I have to, no problem. But it def should be added to the rulebook if it stays.

I agree that there should be a clear rule either way. But swapping franchise tags/players doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Either have it a true franchise player who can't be traded in exceptional circumstances (not the case for Stamkos or Eberle IMO), or just make it a flexible cap saving tool by for example choosing any one player to have it at the start of each season.

Can I get an answer on this? I already sent my arbitration case for Vanek. I'll have to send a new one if that's the case.

I've PMed Dallas to make sure he's all square with his offers. We'll get it knocked down soon enough.

To everyone else, I've been away for a few days, but am now back and ready to finish these arbs and move on to free agency.
