Re: D Sami Salo
Don't we have a signing bonus ceiling? Or does that only apply to extensions and not UFA offers?
Re: D Sami Salo
As far as I understood it, the bonus just can't be higher than the contract..this is only equal to.
Re: D Sami Salo
I thought it was only for RFAs/extensions, since UFAs are put in through players.ehm anyways so signing bonuses don't matter.
Re: D Sami Salo
Damn, they are through the players.ehm? If I had known that I woulda lowballed him haha.
Re: D Sami Salo
As far as its written, it is for contract extensions only.CapsGM wrote:I thought it was only for RFAs/extensions, since UFAs are put in through players.ehm anyways so signing bonuses don't matter.
Rule 5G:
As for UFAs, Rule 5C:G. Contract Extension Signing Bonus Cap: Teams wishing to extend contract offers to currently rostered players may not offer a signing bonus exceeding 50% of the yearly base salary. Example: If Columbus offers Steve Mason a contract extension of $3M per season, the signing bonus for that deal cannot exceed $1.5M. This will keep extensions realistic and help to lower the likelihood of lowball offers being accepted.
Basically, since the total salary is the real deciding factor, the point here is moot.C. After a bid has remained the highest for a 12-hour period, the bidding will close and the team with the highest bid will receive that player. Highest bid will be determined by total salary for duration of contract. (For example, 3 years 18 million will beat 1 year 8 million.)

Re: D Sami Salo
Rather than worry about the signing bonuses, this signing has created a new rule.
I know all 30 teams had a chance at Salo while he was on waivers, but the fact that he was originally Dallas's player and now he was re-signed for a lower amount, is something that we are going to frown upon around these parts.
There's no rule in place currently, so this signing will go through, but from here on out, once I get the wording together, it will be included.

Oh man, how are we supposed to have waiver fun with the scrubs of the league like the Coyotes always seem to do haha.Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:Rather than worry about the signing bonuses, this signing has created a new rule.
