I've got guys who can take Staal's spot, and I could use his cap hit off my books. Diffley can slot in as a 6th D next season, and Foudy/Ruzicka are worth checking out.

While Diffley is a solid young two-way defenseman, it seems like I have a bit of logjam on defense, as there is number of similar type of defensemen in the line-up, or similalry skilled defensemen like Diffley in the system, so this will leave a spot for the others to compete for it, to convince (or to discourage) me about their position in Dallas. (Hello there Blidstrand, McFaull, Dello..) Foudy and Ruzicka both looked like solid young prospects and they both bring something else to the table, but it seems like my offense four lines are pretty much set for now so the team will be able to get by without them. This deal significantly burdens the cap more, but the cap-hit managment in this team is excellent so far, so why not? We can do it now. Staal can be effective player for the Dallas Stars, if used properly.
