to Calgary
D Jacob Trouba (75)
C/R Jacob Olofsson (81)
PHI 1st 2019 (#28 overall)
CHI 2nd 2019 (#54 overall)
to Pittsburgh
D Brent Seabrook (84)
NYR 1st 2019 (#18 overall)
CGY 3rd 2020
Seabrook doesn't really fit with what we're doing, but he's a good player, we'll either use him or flip him. Trouba provides Calgary with a capable second-pairing replacement at about $3M in cap savings. In exchange for taking Seabrook's contract, I wanted to move up in the draft. Olofsson is a decent bottom-six forward prospect, he and 54 balance out the trade-up. I think it gives us both a bit of what we're looking for, a move up for me and some cap savings & capable top-4 D for Calgary.

OK, let's try this again...
Moving Seabrook gives Calgary some much needed cap relief with Matthews and Rielly both due for raises. The cost of dumping...er...moving the contract was to move down in the draft.
Trouba can slot in as a Top 6 D, or at least a strong 7 for now with Potential to move into a Top 4 in the future...or he can be moved for further assets!
Oloffson is a good prospect for the future
But that $3m in cap room is awesome.

Approved, for the record.
