Do we have to say if we're letting players walk, or just don't offer contracts?

Re: 2019 Free Agency
The draft has been entered. I double-checked that the in-game draft history matches the draft thread, so everything should be in order, but check that everyone is where you expected it since I might have overlooked something and/or accidentally modified a player between some overagers. Also, every previously draft-eligible prospect age 20+ (as of the draft cutoff date of Sep. 15) is now UFA. Nobody good, sorry.
I need to update the info on the team pages next. If you have any particular requests for what you want put there besides your name/hire date, let me know.

Laurent Dauphin's CON got reset to 54 (should be 51).
Jean-Francois Jacques' CON drop didn't get reset (should be 52).

When do free agents have to be signed by? And are we doing a sim past the POT boost date before then or all at once?

Re: 2019 Free Agency
I entered the first 10 teams' contracts. More to come tomorrow and Friday.
I don't really see the need for a break for simming but you can convince me otherwise.
I'm going to be away next week so I think we'll aim to start UFA on Sunday the 18th (a week earlier than last year). I'll sim past the rollover and through to August then.Vik (Habs) wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 1:52 am When do free agents have to be signed by? Re: 2019 Free Agency
16 teams entered. That's over half! Well not really since Vik presumably has more than just booster ELCs to post.
4 more to go and then I'll start chasing after delinquents/soliciting interim GM applications.

Re: 2019 Free Agency
Free Agency will begin Sunday August 18 at 7 PM.
The following teams have yet to submit contract extensions:
ANA, CBS, DET, MTL (besides booster ELCs)
The following orphan teams need interim GMs:
COL, FLA, NJD, WAS, WPG
Martin - you can take WAS. Sorry, I deleted the old interim account so you'll have to make a new one if you want to change anything in GMO.

No, but don't expect any surprises like your favourite overpriced veteran retiring to save you from their cap hit/contract spot. I need to revise the official retirement rules anyway. There are usually enough crappy unsigned/expiring contracts to get the ~165 retirements we need for a new draft class.

Re: 2019 Free Agency
I updated the file. We're now officially at August 29 in-game.
The following players POT boosted in the news:
Alex Vlasic
Nathan Legare
Linus Karlsson
Allan McShane
Samuel Fagemo
Ryder Donovan
Shane Pinto
Michael Gildon
Christian Krygier
Simon Holmstrom
Dillon Hamaliuk
Several other players boosted without news items, including Drew Helleson, and some single boosts to 6 POT for Graeme Clarke, Adam Beckman and others (I didn't check systematically).
Also Hugo, you're welcome for removing Rick Nash's retiring flag before advancing.

Re: 2019 Free Agency
Reminder to everyone: qualified RFAs show up in the free agent list. You should check the first post of this thread to see if a player is RFA before making an offer on them.
Of course, you can still make offers sheets to them if you like (current team will be allowed to match or take draft pick compensation) but your offer will have to be at least what is shown on the calculator.

Re: 2019 Free Agency
We're also still looking for interim GMs for NJD and WPG.
I unset Mikko Koivu's retirement flag. I'm not sure if ARZ knew about it and wanted to sign him but I assume not at that price.

I'm thinking no one should bid on any of the goalies Nashville currently has the top bid on so we can see what they do with 9 goalies on their roster.

Re: 2019 Free Agency
I updated the file with trades and fixed the contracts I gave the wrong length.
Vik pointed out that there is room for abuse or at least a conflict of interest if teams with interim GMs bid on the same free agents as their main teams, so please don't do that.
I think the only one so far is Sanheim and I'll let it go for now because he's not very good.

Just got our first slew of signings. Colin Wilson at 1.7M and Dan Girardi at 800k both seem like very cap efficient additions to me. Was also expecting Lundqvist to get more than 1.5M.

I don't think anyone's operating in bad faith but the easiest way to avoid potential conflicts is to not have the opportunity in the first place.
