Re: 2010 EHEC Entry Draft First Round

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our general managers for devoting their time and efforts to make the inaugural EHEC season a smashing success. I would also like to thank Ryan and Nick for helping me run what we believe is the best EHM simulation league on the internet today. All of your contributions are much appreciated.

As you all know, realism is definitely the number one goal in EHEC. That is why Ryan and I constructed the real-life draft class and are doing the draft in the manner that we are. It is important to us to keep our league unique, and doing what we do is what makes us so unique. Certainly, some players will be drafted much earlier or later than the real life version went/will go. Everything I compiled was done so based on scouting reports, statistics, and the type of league that the draftee was playing in.

While the draft class is done officially, I do reserve the right to edit where editing is necessary. I'm not talking about altering the player. Just in case another issue is found like a missing/extra ceiling number, a name typo, etc. I do still plan on entering career stats for the players when I get some time to do that.

Use this thread for any draft chatter. Keep this thread just for the picks themselves.

Without further adieu, I welcome you all to the first Eastside's Hockey Elite Collide Entry Draft. I would like to thank the city of Los Angeles for its hospitality during the draft week. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators for their impressive postseason runs.

Here we go, boys.

The New Jersey Devils are on the clock!

1st of all the New Jersey Devil's would like to thank the Commissioner Adam and the League staff Ryan and Nick for putting together such a strong and dedicated league, aswell as my fellow GM's for making it such a nice place to be. Further more I'd like to thank our fans for sticking with us through such a tough rebuilding year while the team under went so many changes. But tonight is a big step to putting New Jersey back on the hockey map.

With the 1st overall selection the New Jersey Devil's would like to select from the Plymouth Whalers, center Tyler Seguin. He's a great 2-way player who plays a tough Candian style of hockey and should be a staple to our offensive attack for years to come.

Image

Talant Analysis: A skilled offensive player who is equally adept at scoring goals as well as setting them up. His defensive game is fairly well-developed, as well, and he plays in all situations. Seguin is the kind of player you can build a team around.

With all the commotion around our franchise this season we felt we owed it to our fans to make this the best draft possible. We had to displace some assets we never believed would play in another jersey, but all moves were made to better the team in the long run. Now as we have seen our offense take a huge leap today our defense shall follow suit.

With the 3rd overall selection in the 2010 EHEC entry draft the New JErsey Devil's select from the Windor Spitfires, Cam Fowler. He is the best defensemen in this draft or even recent drafts in our organizations opinion and we are more than happy to welcome the Northville Michigan native and his incredible defensive and puck moving skills to our team. Fowler will truly be a leathal weapon for us and with Seguin, we believe our rise will be much faster than our fall with these talanted players!

Image

Talant Analysis: Fowler is an offensively oriented defenseman in the mold of a Scott Niedermayer. He is an excellent skater and puck handler, and his instincts and hockey sense are as good as any defenseman in his draft class. Fowler isn't all offense, however, as his play in his own end is usually solid.

After much consternation the Thrashers' table has finally hung up the telephones and the leadership is coming to the center stage to make the selection.

First things first, GM Tom Kennish would like to thank all of the EHEC general managers for their warm welcome to the league. As some of you may have noticed, or not, we have also made our first trade with Vancouver, a real game changer. Anyways, so begins the process of building up the Atlanta Thrashers.

With the fourth overall pick, the Atlanta Thrashers are proud to select, from the Moncton Wildcats,

The Florida Panthers delegation stumbles to the podium, at certain points GM Haslam stops short and attempts to veer off, only to bumped by Head Scout Scott Luce and steered back toward the stairs.

"The Florida Panthers would like to thank the LA Kings for hosting us, showing us a good time, we'd like to thank their fans, the fans of all teams in the Pacific, Northwest, Central, Atlantic and Northeast Divisions, and the fans of the Atlanta Thrashers, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning."

"With the sixth selection, the Florida Panthers would like to select, from HIFK Helsinki, Mikael Granlund."

The Columbus Blue Jackets organization would like to thank the Los Angeles Kings organization for their hospitality this weekend. We would also like to congratulate Tampa Bay and our division rival Nashville for their trips to the Stanley Cup finals. A special hello to our fans watching from the draft party at Nationwide Arena and those fans getting plastered at R-Bar, waiting to cheer for our pick. Sorry we traded down and made you wait.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are extremely thrilled to select one big, mean son of a bitch, Mr. Dylan McIlrath from the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League.
