Reasoning: I shed salary while filling a massive need on the blueline gaining one of the top defensive defenceman in the sim, who's also not atrocious with the puck and is still very young on a good contract, vesey fits in very nicely on my NZT 3rd line and hey never know if i'll hit the lottery or not with pick 37. Lucic's void will be tough to fill, but I feel I have some young guys in Vilardi, Suzuki, marchenko who could end up replacing the offense I lost with him for a fraction of the salary. Another reason i moved lucic was the fact he's almost 33 with 5 years left at 5.8 mill and i have alot of upcoming extensions i'll need to sign, including mackinnon. Seemed to make sense for the both of us all around.

Looks silly to trade Jensen for Carlo and then acquire Lucic which is very similar to Jensen, but with all the recent trades, I figured I couldn’t make it to the top without an upgrade at forward.
